How Bettriq works
Bettriq hunts for value across the soft books (Unibet, Coolbet, Epicbet,
Norsk Tipping and more) by using the sharp line as the truth — the price the
market's toughest bettors settle on, where limits are high, margins are razor-thin, and real
money punishes every error. We build no model of our own. We strip the margin off the
sharp line (no-vig) and check whether a soft book is lagging behind. If it is, we have a
mathematical edge.
How to read the Value Board
| True % | The sharp line's no-vig probability — margin removed. Our best estimate of what's actually likely to happen. |
| Market / Sharp | The soft book's offered odds (book name shown under the price) against the sharp reference's raw odds. If the book is higher, it's lagging behind the sharp line. |
| EV | Expected value = True % × the book's odds − 1. Positive = a mathematical edge if the sharp line is right. |
| Kelly | Recommended stake as a share of bankroll — 0.25× fractional, capped at 5%. Conservative by design. |
| Edge (pp) | True % − break-even (1/odds): how many percentage points more likely the outcome is than the price implies. The board is ranked by this, not by EV — it measures the probability cushion. Two bets with equal EV can differ sharply: 1.68→1.85 is +5.4 pp, while 5.00→5.50 is only +1.8 pp. The favourite is the more robust value, with less variance. |
Quality flags on the board
| ⚠ decaying | The sharp line is moving toward the book. The value is dying — don't bet it. |
| ≈ correlated | Same insight as a better object in the market. Stake only the primary one; stacking correlated bets multiplies variance without multiplying edge. |
| ⇄ arb | Best price on every outcome, across books, locks in a profit regardless of result. The margin shown is what's left if both legs stand. |
| ⟳ interp | Interpolated line — the sharp reference prices 2.5 and 3.0, the book offers 2.75, so the fair probability is interpolated to the book's exact line. |
| ⚙ derived | Derived from the sharp 1X2 rather than priced directly. |
How to actually use it. Move fast — soft books correct within minutes, and the
edge dies with them. Avoid stacking correlated bets. Click ★ to add a bet to
My Bets; the «hide played bets» and «hide played matches» filters then
keep the board clean. Bets above 25% EV are hidden — at that distance from the sharp line it is
almost always a mispriced or dead line, not free money.
6 rules for actually beating the book
- Act fast. Value exists because the book hasn't updated yet. The price can be gone within minutes. Fresh odds beat old odds.
- Big EV is suspicious. +15% is almost never real — it's a stale line, an obvious error, or different rules (like bet365 counting corners differently). We hide anything above 25%, but stay skeptical well before that too.
- Don't stack correlated bets. Over 4.0, 4.5 and 5.5 in the same match is the same insight three times. Pick one. Kelly-staking all of them grossly overplays your edge.
- The edge lives in soft leagues. The big books are sharp on the Champions League and top European football — value is rare there. OBOS, Ekstraklasa, Scottish football and lower divisions are where they lag behind.
- Soft books limit winners. Beat a book consistently and it cuts your stakes. Round your stakes to "ordinary" amounts, don't always smash the most obvious bet, and spread your bets across time and books.
- Stay disciplined with staking. Follow Kelly, not your gut. Bankroll management is the difference between an edge that survives and an account that bleeds dry during a variance swing.
Data & updates
Odds come from a licensed odds feed plus our own scrapers against Coolbet, Epicbet and
Norsk Tipping, across roughly 20 leagues. We de-vig the sharp reference per bet with the
Shin method (corrects for the favorite-longshot bias that naive de-vigging carries)
and match each soft book's price on every market against both prices: 1X2, goals over/under, Asian
handicap, goal line, corners, team goals, 1st half, half-time result. Where a book offers a line the
sharp reference doesn't price exactly (e.g. O/U 2.75), we interpolate the fair
probability to that exact line (flagged ⟳). And for markets it doesn't price directly but which
follow deterministically from 1X2 — Double Chance and Draw No Bet —
we derive them from the sharp 1X2 (flagged ⚙), so the sharp line covers even more
markets.
The sharp line always has one primary source. Exactly which sources feed it is part
of the product. What we can say: the
primary reference is never averaged with anything else, even when a second sharp book happens to
agree (that's just flagged as "✓✓ consensus," a confirmation, not a change to the number), and a
betting exchange serves strictly as a fallback on markets the primary doesn't price at all (flagged
"alt ref" in the table) — without it, those bets would be invisible to the board. The board updates
continuously; a full rebuild runs every few minutes. The major domestic leagues kick off in August
and fill up the board then.
